Welcome
Dear members of the St Raphael’s school community,
Congratulations to the Year 6 children who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday and our Year 5 children who received First Eucharist on Sunday. All of the ceremonies were memorable occasions and it was wonderful to be able to share the occasion in the church.
We thank Bishop Terry Curtin, Fr Simon, all the staff and families for their support and assistance. Special thanks to Rosalba Squarci and the Year 5/6 teachers who prepared the children so beautifully for these ceremonies.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy, safe and Holy Easter. Easter is the greatest celebration in the Catholic church because it is the completion of Holy Week that ends with the resurrection of Jesus. Easter celebrates the beginning and foundation of Christianity. Please stay safe this Easter.
I will be taking leave from next Monday 22nd March until Thursday 1st April. In my absence, Rosalba Squarci will be the Acting Principal.
The School Advisory Board met last night. Thank you to the parent representatives - Roan Poltz, Pauline O’Connor, Tracey Pace, Cara Fonua and Lisa Mancini. Due to recent governance changes to Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools, Fr Simon has requested that Gretchen Wooton join the SAB as the parish representative. We welcome Gretchen to our School Advisory Board.
Minutes of the meeting will be distributed in due course.
A reminder that there is a $200 discount off all school fees and levies if paid in full by Friday 30th April 2021.
We are pleased to note that the Darebin Council have recently provided line marking upgrades and tree pruning at the school crossing on Gilbert Road. Digital signage will also be installed in the near future to alert the approaching traffic of this crossing.
Congratulations to Niam Ryan, Ella Lamanna, Rebecca Beninati and Odessa D'Lasselle on their outstanding effort yesterday at the VPSSA Northern Region Swimming Carnival. The girls finished third in their relay event. Rebecca also swam in the 50m Butterfly event and finished 5th. A great effort to all of the girls and we are all extremely proud of your fantastic achievement.
