Dear Families, Students and Community Members,

As we come close to the end of another interesting year at Mordialloc College we are again proud to celebrate the wonderful relationships and successes we experience in our Senior School. We are reaching the end of the VCE exam period and about to embark upon Year 10 and 11 exams, but most of all we are now looking forward with hope to the beginning of Headstart to mark the new academic year.

The Senior School team will continue with the same coordinators in 2022: Mr Randell in Year 12, Mrs Wilson in Year 11 and Ms Hargreaves in Year 10. Ms Furphy will continue to co-ordinate Year 10 in an assistant role.

We said goodbye and good luck to the class of 2021 earlier this term and, for many of us, it was a time of very mixed emotions. As always, we were sad to see them go, but incredibly proud of their achievements. We felt the disappointment of not being able to celebrate with them at a Formal or by going on the VCE and VCAL camps that were planned, but we also felt the joy of knowing they had made it through the most challenging two years any VCE / VCAL cohort has ever experienced.

The final assembly, although delivered remotely for the second year running, was an acknowledgement of everything they have achieved this year and a celebration of their amazing qualities as young people. I am truly amazed by the way they dealt with the additional pressures of 2020 and 2021 – on top of the usual challenges presented by Year 12 studies. We await their VCE results on Thursday 16 December and I truly hope they all achieve their goals which will enable them to progress to the next stage along life’s pathway. For our VCAL students, we have many who have already secured apprenticeships or Further Training opportunities, which is testament to their commitment to their chosen pathways. I wish the class of 2021 all the very best for the future and hope they keep in contact with us at Mordialloc College so that we can share in their future successes, of which I have no doubt there will be many.

Headstart begins on Monday 22nd November and we are anticipating a positive start to 2022 for all our students in Senior School. The teachers are incredibly excited to meet their new classes and to begin the year feeling confident that the next year will be free of remote learning and filled with the usual incursions, excursions and exciting events that we offer at Mordialloc College.

On a personal note, I would like to say ‘congratulations’ to all students who have tried hard to achieve their personal best in any aspect of life throughout what has been for many, another difficult year. I look forward to working with you all in 2022. Have a fantastic summer; have fun, complete your holiday homework but most importantly, stay safe!
