From the Principal

As I write today’s newsletter, I reflect again on all that we have tackled together over the last twelve months. So much has happened and much not as we would have hoped for. There has been much that I feel as a community that we should be grateful for but that doesn’t dismiss the challenges that have presented themselves over the year.

As we farewell the 2021 school year, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday with family and friends and with restrictions lifting, precious time enjoying simple pleasures with your nearest and dearest. Take a moment to be proud of what you have achieved this year and cherish the days ahead that will hopefully ‘fill your buckets’ that have been a little empty this year. May 2022 bring you all much to be grateful for. ☺

Thank you:-

  • To all staff for their professionalism and dedication towards our students and families throughout the year.  I believe they can reflect on many successes with the biggest take away being their collaboration to again provide a rich remote/flexible learning platform for our students and at short notice, a return to onsite learning.  CPS is certainly blessed with a wonderful team of teachers and support staff.
  • To our students for working so well in their learning teams throughout the year. You too, should be very proud of yourselves. We have remained delighted with your efforts in remote/flexible learning developing your digital learning skills, independence and resilience through these ongoing, challenging times. Thank you too, for returning to school this term with such a positive attitude. We look forward to supporting you all to ensure your individual needs are catered for in 2022.
  • To School Councillors for your support via our remote meetings. I do hope we can meet personally more regularly next year.
  • To our Parents and Friends, for their efforts to remain connected albeit remotely. Thank you for reconnecting us recently with Icy pole Fridays, Sushi Day and the delicious mangos, cherries and pies.  We do look forward to offering a few more fundraising efforts and community events throughout 2022.
  • To the parents and members of the school community who have supported our school throughout the year. We don’t love how much our doors have been shut and the gates closed for much of the year but building of positive and respectful partnerships is such an important part of the CPS way and your support has meant a great deal to us.

FAREWELL

  • I know there are a few more days of school remaining but I wish our year six students the very best as they commence Secondary College. We very much look forward to sharing a somewhat modified graduation evening next week. With some restrictions lifting immediate families will be joining us onsite and do hope others can connect via the video stream that will be offered. May their futures be bright and rewarding and their dreams come true.
  • We fondly farewell Dominique Oosterbaan and Suzie Dawe with both these lovely ladies deciding the time has come to retire to embark on the next chapter of their lives. They have both given much to CPS over many years and will be greatly missed.
  • We also wish those students and their families, moving to new schools in 2022, all the best for their future. We know several families are resettling in new homes, in new suburbs and we hope you quickly settle into your new schools next year. I hope you leave with many happy memories of your time at CPS.
  • I would like to take a moment to formally acknowledge Susan Harper, our School Council President for her years of commitment and positive support to Carnegie Primary School on so many levels. She has led our School Council since her youngest daughter commenced at CPS eleven years ago. I know you will join me in thanking Susan and her family and wishing them all the very best for the future. Larissa Casamento has also been a pivotal member of our School Council for many years and she too is saying farewell as her youngest daughter is transitioning to secondary college.   I do hope they may pop by from time to time or visit when we do have a community event.
