U11 cricket

Round 1 saw the U11’s go down to in a narrow loss to CYMS. Harry Price, Prayan Dulal and Aston Lett all taking wickets in a solid bowling performance for the first game of the season.

As KWS took to the crease, running between the wickets provided much entertainment. Harry Price performed well with the bat, ably supported by Reg Caskey, Andy Bell and Nick Balcombe as KWS reached a very respectable total of 85. Judging by the laughter, the boys were not concerned by the score line and just happy to be back out on the cricket field.

Unfortunately, the weather spoiled the party for round 2 but the team are hoping the rain stays away this week so they can get out there again. Please check mycricket for any draw changes.

U12 cricket

Round 1 saw the KWS U12’s come away convincing winners over CYMS, losing just the 2 wickets chasing a total of 71. Tom Hughes top scoring with 23, while Tom Mason and Tom Hansen also batted well, both finishing not out. Ben Chambers had earlier done the damage with the ball, taking 2/5. A great start to the season!

Round 2 was a much tougher outing against a strong Cavaliers side. Losing early wickets, KWS regrouped off the back of excellent batting from Hamish Buckley. George Nash also helped prop up the lower order as the pair put together a strong partnership to keep KWS in the hunt. Setting Cavaliers 72 to win, KWS started well with the ball, Lucas Choi, Daniel Rourke and Tom Mason all bowling accurately. A superb piece of fielding from Ben Chambers and Sam Commins ran the opposition opening batsmen out and Cavs started to feel a little pressure. However, their middle order regrouped as they chased down the total with 4 wickets to spare.

Next week we face Centrals at KWS. Please double check the draw on mycricket as there have been some adjustments since the start of the season.

Today we played our first competitive game of the season against Mystic Purple. They were tough competition but we played hard and worked really well as a team. We learnt a lot about each other and will only get better as the season goes on. It was so great to see all the families supporting us.

Kinross Wolaroi’s Year 6 boys basketball team played their first competition game on Thursday 28th October at PCYC Orange.

The boys performed incredibly well for their first time playing as a team, facing off against Orange Anglican Grammar School. They were unsuccessful in securing the win and went down to a nail-biting loss of 12-15.

Matthew Lowther was the first player to get KWS on the board, scoring a nifty 2 point shot.

The year 6 coach, Mrs Sharp said “I am very proud of the team’s first competition performance”.

Player, Matthew Lowther also said “Even though we lost, I think we all had a great time playing”.
