Farewell 2021
The focus in the previous KCC newsletter for Wellbeing was on preparing for the Festive Season. Whilst it can be a time of fun and togetherness, the article addressed the potential struggles and pressures that may occur for many as we often spend additional time with family and friends during the break.
In addition to the suggestions from the previous article, it may be worth considering commencing acts of gratitude, either individually or as a family. A simple strategy can be by writing what you have been grateful for this year, putting the piece of paper in an allocated jar and sharing the feedback on Christmas Day with the family. Another option is to do the activity as in individual task by writing about what you have been grateful for in 2021 for your own reflection and reference. This exercise is useful in promoting positive emotions and perspective and if shared, can be a great icebreaker over time with others at Christmas, and a great way to show appreciation. The examples do not need to be life changing acts, but showing gratitude can certainly have a positive impact on relationships.
Some examples may include:
“Thank you to Grandma for taking me to training each week.”
“I am thankful that we have the opportunity to be together at Christmas after a year of uncertainty.”
“I am thankful for a new pet.”
