THAC Western District Interschools Equestrian Competition

On Saturday 4th December, the Western District Interschool Equestrian Competition was held at our Equestrian Centre. Riders came from far and wide to be part of this fabulous event and we were all so impressed with the integrity, respect and sportsmanship demonstrated by all our riders on the day. The Hamilton and Alexandra College were the winning team overall! Congratulations to our team – Elsie Dyer, Johnny Fenton, Jessica Templeton and Chloe Laidlaw. The overall individual champions were Milly Mulcock from Pleasant St Primary School who placed first. Second place was awarded to Chloe Laidlaw from The Hamilton and Alexandra College. Congratulations to all our riders! Please see the final results as posted on Event Secretary at the link below:

Sadly, due to Covid border restrictions this event has now been cancelled and we hope to find another date in the new year.

Thank you and farewell for now…

As the year draws to a close, I would like to congratulate all our students on their resilience and persistence as we navigated many challenges over the last 18 months. Thank you to all our families who have continued to support our wonderful Horsemanship program.

Over my seven years at The Hamilton and Alexandra College, I have been extremely privileged to watch many of our students grow and develop into confident riders, who are now competing at very high levels. I am so proud of their dedication, enthusiasm and eagerness to learn more about riding and achieve their best. All of our riders demonstrate the values our school aims to instil as they move into their adult life. Working with horses allows a child to make a close connection with an animal and provides exceptional life experiences in the formation of this relationship and in the responsibility for the love and care of their horse or pony.

I am incredibly proud of so many of our riders. Zoe Weinberg, Charlie and Finely Hiscock, Zoe Addinsall, Airlie Bowes, Amelie Hiscock just to name a few of the students who began with me in 2015 and have now grown into wonderful human beings with the brightest of futures ahead. My daughter Emma has absolutely cherished the experiences she has gained from riding in our horsemanship program. We will hold these lifelong memories in our hearts.

I have been so grateful for the support given to me over the years by all the wonderful parents, past and present, at this school. A special thank you to the Hiscock’s, Jacqui Weinberg and Gail Laidlaw who have been so encouraging of me since I began in 2015. I was so touched by Zoe Weinberg’s speech in assembly and thank Zoe for her support and kindness. Thank you also to the late, beautiful Anna Officer. A lady I will never forget. The laughter, friendship, and passion she brought to our centre will always be remembered.

Thank you to all our amazing coaching team this year. Christine Corbidge, Jamie Murray, Anthea Sutherland and Angela Lea. We are incredibly grateful for the expertise these highly qualified professionals are able to share with our students each week.

Thank you to my greatest supports, Linda Archer and Cherie White. Thank you for your guidance, friendship, and assistance.

So many memories my family and I take with us as we embark on a new pathway forward in 2022. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and an even happier new year! I will look forward to watching all our riders continue to pursue their future dreams and will miss you all very much.

Happy riding!
