Music

A Grand Conclusion to the Year

Congratulations must go to all students from the College in their musical finale to the academic year.  Every student in the College has this week participated in musical celebrations.  Firstly, on Monday our Junior School Speech Day audience was treated to performances from our ensembles, Pizzicato Strings, the Chamber Choir and our Prep - Year 2 Singers with their joyous Christmas Tribute. Selected singers and instrumentalists were called on to present Anthems and the Processional and Recessional, and the drumming duet of Tom Templeton and Rupert Merrin was uplifting.

On Tuesday, all Senior School students were finally able to congregate together in the Simons Auditorium for this year’s Christmas Service.  The readings, carols and Christmas songs blended to present the story of Christmas and remind us that the season of Christmas is truly upon us.  Special mention to our soloists Zoe Kennedy, Chloe Baker, Finley Hiscock, Jemima Bishop-Mowat, Alexa Balog, Mr Craig Everingham and our three kings, Ned Walker, Lachlan Tonissen and Harry Mould. Pre-recorded performances from the Junior School’s suite of nativity songs brought the whole school together.

And finally, following Old Fashioned Sports and House Jelly Eating, we farewelled departing staff and students.  I would particularly like to thank Dr Susannah Foulds-Elliot and Mrs Kate Wear for their unwavering enthusiasm for teaching music and their service to the College music faculty and community over many years.  We wish you a merry Christmas, and a happy new year.
