3/4 Excursion to Melbourne Aquarium

On Friday the 3/4 classes went to the Melbourne Aquarium as part of our Inquiry and Religion focus on Interdependence and Sustainability. Students were involved in learning about marine animals and their habitats. Students explored human impacts on the environment and conservation ideas that can look after and support marine life into the future.
Here are what some of the students had to say:
My favourite moment was when I saw a green snake sleeping in a tree. - Amelia
I was amazed at how large the fish tanks were. The water and animals surrounded us. They swam above us and around us. - Kristy
My favourite part was spending time with all the 3/4s learning about different fish. We learnt about different adaptations and how to be sustainable. It really linked to our inquiry topic. I learnt that reptiles also live in oceans and seas. - Angela
My favourite part of the aquarium was when we got to see the turtles. I also liked when the penguins did their waddle dance. - Oliver
I was amazed when the penguins were zooming in the water because I thought they were going to be slow at swimming but they were quite fast. - Ollie
My favourite moment was when we got to see a large saltwater crocodile because I did a project about it last term and I got to learn more about saltwater crocodiles. I could tell it was a male because we were told it was 6 metres long and males are longer. - Zahra
Our favourite part was when we saw Bob the shark in the shipwreck. We also thought it was cool that people can scuba dive in the tanks with the sharks and stingrays. We also loved the penguins when they swam and they were so cute. - Dinuki and Charlize
We really liked seeing the penguins because of how they posed for pictures, how they walked and how they swam. - Shanaya and Elisha
I enjoyed going to the aquarium because we saw lots of different sea animals and reptiles. I loved learning facts about jellyfish like the moon jellyfish look like plastic bags so when animals see plastic bags they also think it's a moon jellyfish. - Mannat
When we went to the aquarium, my favourite part was touching the starfish because I touched other sea animals before but not a starfish. The starfish felt hard, spikey and rough. - Eli
I enjoyed seeing the jellyfish because it was very dark and the jellyfish and students glowed. Some jellyfish can be really small and others can be really big. - Shazad
I enjoyed seeing the cuttlefish because it can mimic a rock. It looks like a rock to hide from predators. I also liked seeing the swordfish because it had a long saw on its face. It was also pretty cool to see all the sea animals swim around us. - Sean
I liked seeing some reptiles at the aquarium. I liked learning new facts. One fact I learnt was that saltwater crocodiles have one of the strongest bites. - Andy
