Student Leaders 2023

Our student leaders take on various roles within our school throughout the year. They work in small teams to meet community engagement and fundraising goals. The work they undertake reflects our school Gospel values of  Respect, Responsibility and Resilience and builds the community consciousness of all members of our school community.

It is with great pleasure that we introduce our Student Leaders for 2023. We look forward to working with them throughout the year.

Healthy Eating: School Lunch Boxes

Healthy lunches and snacks help children concentrate and play throughout the day.

Encourage your child to be involved in their own lunch preparation and discuss choices with them. Try to include a variety of foods from each of the 5 food groups.

Here are some tips that might help.

Brain Food

As you are aware our school timetable has two solid 2hr teaching blocks when the students are more alert & a shorter afternoon block.

We suggest all students bring some 'brain' food to school each day. Brain food helps to sustain energy and focus for learning.

Brain food is usually brought to school in a small container & is a VERY healthy snack that the students can graze on whilst working.

Some examples of brain food include:

  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Bananas
  • Apple cut into bite sized pieces
  • Carrot, cucumber or celery sticks
  • Sultanas
  • Dried fruit

If you have any questions please contact your child's learning group teacher.

Sun Smart

It's that time of year again when all students must wear a hat when outside. It is strongly suggested that the hat be a bucket style as this gives the best protection. School hats are available from the uniform shop. Students who do not have a hat will be asked to stay in the shade.

Positive Behaviours for Learning

As the students settle back into the routines of school life & become acquainted with each other again we are explicitly teaching our expectations  using our Positive Behaviours for Learning matrix. The aim is to make OLSC a safe & happy place for all.  We have high expectations for all our students & use our Positive Behaviours for Learning matrix to help us all shine.

As wellbeing leader I am available to all students & families.  I look forward to working in partnership with you throughout the year.

Feel free to email me at: shenderson@olscwyn.catholic.edu.au or the call the school office if you have any concerns or need help at any time.

Cheers
