Giz' a Break Boys Camp

  Student Report

Day 1

We all met at the McGuire campus, bright and early. We were so excited and a little unsure of what the next few days were going to be like. We stopped in Benalla for fuel then set off to Mansfield for our last shop feed!  After a bit more driving, we arrived at Mount Stirling and set up camp at Pineapple Flat. This was the best 'mish' of our lives – this is where we experienced our first 4-wheel driving. It was crazy fun, in a nervous but exciting way. We learnt how to set up swags and collected fire wood. There was a creek there that we swam and played in. Lots of laughs and stories all round!

Day 2

We woke the next day feeling surprisingly refreshed after an awesome sleep. After breaky and getting ready for the day we hit the rough tracks in the 4-wheel drives again. We talked, laughed and sung in the cars all day, whilst we were surrounded by majestical views. Late afternoon and night time saw us fishing, swimming and having camp fire chats.

Day 3

We packed up camp and headed to Mount Cobbler to do a hike. Most of us had never hiked before. We hiked to see the waterfall and I helped some of my peers and teachers. I caught Dallas and Billie because they almost fell over so I helped them over the river because the rocks were slippery. We finished tearing around the 4-wheel drive tracks and arrived at our new camp site. This one had a water hole and creek, which kept us entertained for ages. Night time was spent with lots of camp fire chats, it was really fun.

Day 4

We packed up camp and headed to Paradise Falls, I got a couple of photos and stood underneath the water fall and we went back to the cars and left, then we went home.

We had an amazing time and it was an opportunity not to be missed!
