Balaclava District Swimming Carnival

Last week, Kilvington fielded a team in the Balaclava District Swimming Carnival and came away with some impressive results. The team was able to work together to win back the ‘Dawn Fraser’ Trophy (awarded to the smaller schools). A fantastic effort from Kilvington!

One of our swimmers, Bridie Steele (Year 5), qualified for the Beachside Division swimming carnival later in March off the back of her  winning two individual events in backstroke and butterfly. Well done Bridie!

 

 

 

 

 

Kilvington students won ribbons in the following events:

  • Bridie Steele - 1st 11YO Butterfly, 1st 11YO Backstroke (new record time), 2nd Open 100m Freestyle
  • Lennard Langenberg - 3rd 11YO Backstroke
  • Chelsey Li - 4th 9/10YO Butterfly
  • Boys Open Medley Relay - 4th (Pounny Zhou, Sam Loft, Ewan Brown, Luke Munnerley)
  • Girls 11YO Freestyle Relay - 4th (Bridie Steele, Jasmine Zhang, Dorothy Ma, Emily Shao)
  • Boys 11YO Freestyle Relay - 4th (Dante DeFelice, Ted Schar, Ollie Leighton, Lennard Langenberg)
  • Boys Open Freestyle Relay - 4th (Pounny Zhou, Sam Loft, Ewan Brown, Luke Munnerly)

Thank you to our swimming coaches, Bridie Linehan, Kaitlyn Truong and Emma Maclaren for preparing the team, as well as Miss Burns and Miss Hand for their efforts on the day.

Senior School House Swimming 

The annual Senior School House Swimming was held at GESAC on Friday 24 February.

On a beautiful and warm Melbourne day, our Kilvington students gave their all to earn points for their Houses. 

Well done to everyone who competed in an event, whether it was traditional swimming events, House Cheers, novelty events or the paper plane competition. 

There was much spirit and camaraderie on display throughout. The overall aggregate result was extremely close and exciting. It came down to the results of the last two form relays. Many thanks to all of the staff in attendance who helped to ensure the day went swimmingly.

Some of our swimmers will compete for the School in the Division 1 EISM Swim Evening Carnival to be held at MSAC on 14 March.
