Kilvington Centenary

Welcome to the Kilvington 2023 Centenary page. Here we will bring you events, news and updates on all things relating to Kilvington’s 100th birthday.

Our school and students - then and now!

This is the house on Walsh Street where our founders, Caroline and Constance Barrett, moved to in 1929 - one of a series of moves as the school grew year on year. And, of course, the School as it is today on Leila Road.

Prefects from 1952 and today's Senior School Academic leaders.

MEET JANE MARTINO (NEE NEWTON), CLASS 0F 1995

Current Profession - Investor, Advisor, Chief of Staff

I have amazing memories of my time at Kilvington and was part of everything from sporting teams and events, to debating and musical theatre.

I also held the position of House Captain of Burman House in my final year – my memories of Senior School are such great ones!

Since leaving school, I studied a Bachelor of Arts and have built multiple organisations to successful exit across the media, martech, fintech and digital health sectors.

Currently, I am Chair and Co-founder of the globally recognised health tech platform, Smiling Mind, which delivers online mindfulness programs to young people. The non-profit organisation has had over seven million downloads and is used in two-thirds of Australian schools.

Most recently,  I was appointed Portfolio Advisor to the Commonwealth Bank's x15 ventures, assisting them with their digital innovation strategy. I also hold the position of Chief of Staff at Linktree.

I am mother to three boys Tom, Henry and Sonny aged 17, 15 and 14 and live in Armadale, Victoria.

MEET CHARAN NAIDOO, CLASS OF 2017

Graduate Policy Officer – Victorian Department of Government Services

I have many wonderful highlights from my time at Kilvington. These experiences have helped shape my post-school journey in a number of ways.

For instance, my VCE French classes with Madame Dickens instilled in me a passion for the French language, inspiring me to go on a university exchange at SciencesPo in Paris and to complete my Honours in French last year.

My English and Economics classes provided a forum for robust debate and an introduction to topical public policy issues. These classes served as a foundational knowledge base in my previous role as a Community Engagement Advisor to the Attorney-General of Australia.

Most importantly,Kilvington taught me about the importance of community. As a member of the Kilvington community, I felt (and continue to feel) accepted and endlessly supported by my tireless teachers and kind peers. Indeed, the most important reason why I sought out a role in the Victorian Government is to make a positive difference to my community.

I am hopeful that community will continue to serve as Kilvington’s north star for the next 100 years.
