Boronia Group News Term 4 2022

Term 4, our final term of the year!

It has been wonderful to have a full, uninterrupted year to spend together with your children, learning and growing.

We have spent the final term of the year continuing our learning through play. During the term, we introduced a class friend ‘Ruffs’ the dog’. This was a way of promoting increasing communication skills confidence, questions, and problem-solving. Ruffs sent the group some problems that he was experiencing such as making new friends, being ill, brushing his teeth etc. These were all inspired by questions or experiences that the children were having. The children were able to offer solutions and Ruff’s joined in many mat time and play experiences. The children initiated the drawing and ‘writing’ of letters back to Ruffs.

During the term, we enjoyed the café role play, dress-up tub, hairdresser, library, under the sea, and the airport, using our imaginations to travel to various destinations. Outside in the yard, the “fishing and camp area” were favourite play areas too where the babies, outdoor painting and drawing, soccer games, mud kitchen, and water creek play. This term the children have been actively engaged in various gross motor activities in the yard – climbing, creating towers that turn into ice-cream stalls; using the balancing stilts, hula hoops, balance beams, obstacle courses, and playing a firm favourite – the floor is Lava. The children noticed too that our middle tree has turned green again and is full of leaves.

Wiggle Worm incursion was our incursion for the term. This was a very interactive, fun-filled incursion. The children spent time role-playing characters, moving their bodies to music, dancing, using hobby horses and pom-poms; and the big gigantic shape and colour parachute.

As our term draws to a close, we prepare for our finale, the concert, and our farewell. It has been an adventurous, imaginative filled play learning experience year for all children in Boronia group. Their achievements no matter how big or small have resulted in very big ‘I did it’.
