Where?
Melbourne Zoo
When?
I completed my work experience for a week last month in November 2022.
What animals did you get to work with?
Arboreal monkeys, lemurs, lions, snow leopards, otters, kangaroos, butterflies and many, many more!
Favourite Animal?
Kangaroos! They were from Kangaroo Island and were so soft and cuddly.
What hours did you work as part of work experience?
I started at 7.20am and finished at 4.30pm.
Special Experience?
A baby elephant was born the week I was there and I got to view it when it was 2 days old.
Feeding Time?
You have to feed whole baby goats to the snow leopards! We fed corn husks to the kangaroos and I got to make up the bird feed mixture.
Smelliest Animal Poo?
The Otters!
Biggest Animal Poo?
The Otters poo communally as a family so there was a VERY big pile of poo!
Interesting People?
I worked with someone who was on the tv show "Farmer wants a wife"
Best place to eat @ the Zoo?
Macaw takeaway
"Must-see" @ the zoo?
Lemur Island and the Asian short-clawed otters.
Are you interested in a future career with animals?
Yes! And I now have clear steps of how I can achieve that goal.
Do it again?
Definitely!
