Glimpses of Mount Erin's Rich Heritage

Celebrating 100 Years of History - 1990

Already this year through the pages of Boarders' Buzz, much has been written regarding the history of Mount Erin Boarding School. In 1990, Mount Erin celebrated its centenary, 100 years in existence and dedication to young people.

The event was celebrated on Saint Patrick's Day and saw over 800 past boarding students attend along with many people associated with Mount Erin including Sisters of Presentation and the Wagga Wagga community.

The event was regarded so important by some past boarders that they travelled from as far as the USA. For much of the early years,  Mount Erin Boarding School was a boarding school for girls.

Another chapter to the history of Mount Erin was written when boys boarding began as part of the formation of Kildare and Mater Dei Catholic Colleges, which both opened in 2004.

Currently, Mount Erin Boarding is a co-educational boarding residence  for students attending Kildare Catholic College and Mater Dei Catholic College.
