From the Principal

The impact of the COVID19 restrictions is having a massive influence on the economy and job security.  Any school family who is experiencing financial hardship and needs assistance with school fees obligations is encouraged to contact me via

email (principal@ssrowville.catholic.edu.au) to discuss how we can help at this time.

School Closure Day Public Holiday

this Friday 23rd October

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we continue to settle back into the routines of face to face learning it is wonderful to see our students re-engaging with one another in the classroom and out in the yard.  Our recent streak of pleasant weather on school days has meant students have been able to take full advantage of the sand pit, oval, play equipment and soccer pit.

Whole School Gratitude Mural

Throughout last week all grades were able to contribute to a school wide gratitude chalk mural.  Students were encouraged to reflect on the things they are grateful for now that we have returned to the school site in Term 4.

This was a great way of bringing together the gifts and talents of our students and use this as an open expression of how grateful we are for what we have in a time when it feels like we have lost many things in 2020.

School Assembly

The school assembly livestream continues to be great source of information and a positive platform for the Year 6 Leaders to shine.

School Assembly will be held on Thursday mornings at 9:00am via live stream.  Teachers and students will participate in the assembly by viewing the live stream on their classroom interactive whiteboard or large screen display.

A link to the recording of the assembly will be made available to parents upon request. (email office@ssrowville.catholic.edu.au)

St Simon’s School Photos

I am pleased to announce that the recent announcement made by the State Government regarding school photography will mean we can proceed with our School Photo Day on Thursday 5th November.

As is the case with all services at the moment, there will be changes made to the way the school photography service is carried out on the day.  The photographer is finalising this methodology and I will share this information accordingly.

There will also be updated ordering information made available to parents in coming weeks.

Lets hope (and pray) there are no other changes in the coming weeks that would stop the school photos going ahead.

Student Information Checklist

This week each family will receive a Student Information Checklist document for each of the children enrolled at St Simon’s.  This is an annual process we ask you to engage with so that we can ensure we have the most up to date information for your child.  Please look out for the document in your child’s bag and return it to the office as soon as possible.  The document needs to be returned even if there are no changes to be made.

A Final Word

Next Wednesday 28th October is the feast day of St Simon, our parish’s patron saint.

As a school we will be celebrating this day with a live stream liturgy led by our Year 5 students followed by some surprise magician magic for students via virtual video experience.

We are looking forward to sharing more about the celebrations in next week’s newsletter.

God bless
