Snapshot of Remote Learning in Grade 1

In Grade One, the children have started to explore the Mathematical concepts related to Chance and Probability. Whilst discussing the ideas of events that will, might and won’t happen, the students brainstormed other words relating to chance and gave examples.

To build on this prior knowledge the children rotated in small groups to create posters displaying their thoughts and ideas about chance. The children loved creating bright colourful posters that displayed their own ideas and sharing their mathematical thinking.

Some of the grade one mathematical thinking was:

“It’s impossible that it is going to rain doughnuts”

“We are certain that we will have dinner tonight”

“It’s  impossible that a T-Rex will come to our classroom”

“We think it’s likely that we will eat our lunch today”

“It’s impossible that a pie will walk to school”

“We are certain that we will go to bed”

The grade one teachers are so glad to have the children back in classrooms and sharing their knowledge together as a team.
