Junior Class

This week in the Junior Room we have begun to practice our dramatic skills, we have broken into two groups to learn two different scripts for plays and have had a go at taking turns to read parts and putting some actions to the stories.  We have been working on fractions in maths this week and have loved playing fraction bingo to identify different fractions.  We have been reading a book called “Under the Southern Cross” in reading and have loved exploring the different places in Australia mentioned in the book, especially Phillip Island.  We even got to look at a video of the Penguin Parade and discuss how penguins waddle across the beach to the sand dunes.  We are also looking forward to our bike/scooter excursion on Friday!

Senior Class

Each morning this week the Seniors have been reading a book called “Girl on Wire”, we’ve started to pull apart the sentence structures to support us developing our own stories.  Below is the start of Tia’s story, she did a fantastic job!

They stand, stiff, as the freezing breeze sways around them. They hold on with their toes tightly wrapped around the wire, they step out. The rain comes pouring down on their heads, they start to cry, they feel as if they should stop trying. A voice comes from the clouds. You are smart. You are beautiful. You can do this. You can beat this, but it’s your choice. They feel the wire thin and cold, they curl their toes around it and begin to walk. They feel the fresh breeze hit their cheeks, they smile and carry on.
