Shade Sail Grant

CSPS recently applied for a shade sail grant as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s School Shade Grants Program.

This Program continues to deliver on the election commitment to provide $15.1 million dollars for shade grants and community awareness campaigns over 2019 – 2023.

The Program generated a large amount of interest, reflecting the need for greater shade availability in outdoor spaces.

I am pleased to inform that our grant application of $3,880.00 has been successful.

The shade sail will be erected over the decking area between the current Year 2 and 4 classrooms.  More information to follow.

CSPS is  included on the Bushfire At Risk Register (BARR)

CSPS has received a BARR grant to ensure that our grounds are prepared for the event of a bushfire and to ensure compliance with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) relating to bushfire preparedness.

Over the last few weeks the following projects have been undertaken in relation to these requirements.

  1. Comprehensive Arborist inspection including a detailed report highlighting priority areas (removal and pruning of trees and other vegetation)
  2. Extensive works over a 2 day period from qualified tree removal experts
  3. Upgrade of Fire hydrants and fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance
  4. Extensive mowing, clearing and removal of vegetation focusing on the school boundary to ensure effective fire breaks
  5. . Planting of fire retardant and indigenous plants - this project to be completed.  Please stay tuned to the next newsletter with exciting information about this project.
