Congratulations to all state finalists!

 

We once again held our own at the Victorian State Finals with all three of our teams qualifying for Nationals at the end of November where they will come up against teams from Western Australia, Tasmania, South Australia and New Zealand.

 

 

Middle Years (Wed 21 Oct)

After an exciting spell where we were top of the table after 6 of 9 rounds, our team dropped off the pace a bit and eventually finished 4th overall out of 19 teams.

 

Highlight: Rey Ding (Year 7) went through the 9 rounds unbeaten with six wins and three draws and scoring 7.5 points.

Open Secondary (Thur 22 Oct)

Our team (made up of boys in Years 9, 10 and Shiven Rewal in Year 5) finished 7th out of 21 teams.

 

Highlight: This was Shiven’s first time playing in a chess tournament and he managed to finish with 4 points (3 wins and two draws against much older boys).

 

Girls (Fri 23 Oct)

Our girls' team finished 4th out of 6 teams with Prisha Rewal our top player, winning 5 of her 9 games.
