Dear Families and College Community
This week staff were involved in a number of professional learning activities encompassing risk analysis and safety planning on Farm and in Trades as well as various activities in Class and Residence.
Over the last term, staff and the Board have been working through the College Business Plan with the aim of making clear links between it and the various operational plans we have in place. These have been arranged under the following three domains:
- Effective Students
- Effective staff
- Effective Learning and Living Environment.
For each domain the Business Plan identifies broad value statements, specific actions and measures of success. The measures of success become the mechanisms by which we judge our effectiveness and accordingly make adjustments to our operation. Various operational plans across the College align with the Business Plan which in turn aligns with the Department of Education Strategic Plan and Annual Focus documents.
Whilst still a work in progress, I am interested in any feedback from our parents and community covering each of the three domains over the next three weeks.
Effective students
- We are passionate in our endeavours to ensure that we equip our students to be able to respond to future challenges and opportunities.
- We want every student to be active participants in their learning and to achieve their potential.
- We want every student to make a smooth transition from school into employment, apprenticeships or further study.
We will
- Maintain a strong focus on developing effective literacy and numeracy skills.
- Support students to be self-directed learners with a strong work ethic.
- Get to know each of our students and how best they learn. Use data to track individual student progress, provide timely feedback and intervene where necessary to ensure they reach their potential.
- Provide opportunities for students to develop citizenship and leadership skills.
- Provide pathways that clearly articulate to employment and further education/training.
- Provide a range of learning areas and delivery methods to engage students to perform at their best.
