The Junior School

Term 1 Roundup

Term 1 in the Junior School

We have had a fabulous Term 1 in the Junior School. It has been a pleasure to be part of the community and involved in so many activities. It was wonderful to attend the recent P& F Welcome BBQ and meet so many people.

We recently held very successful online Parent Teacher Interviews. They were a great opportunity for parents and staff to discuss the progress made by each child and put plans in place for the future. We are keen to seek feedback about the Parent Teacher Interviews and a survey has been to sent to all families.

We have also had our Sports Fun Morning for students from ELC -Year 2, which was well attended by families. The Year 6 students participated in a Leadership Day and many parents also attended the associated Literacy Workshop evening.

In the sporting arena this term we have had much success and been fortunate to win:

  • SDSSA Swimming
  • SDSSA Athletics
  • SDSSA Summer Sport Round Robin aggregate

This is an amazing effort of which we should feel very proud.

There are so many optional activities the students can participate in and enjoy each week before school and during recess or lunch including:

  • Mondays and Fridays – The Early Risers, who meet to work on their fitness
  • Mondays – The Eco Warriors, who have helped inspire a range of environmental recycling strategies
  • Wednesdays - The Junior School Council helped organise Harmony Week Activities
  • Wednesday - The Year 6 Design Technology Club, who have fun designing and building with technology
  • Thursdays - The Year 4/5/6 Chamber Choir learn and sing a variety of music
  • Fridays - The Chess Club, who come together to learn and enjoy playing the game
  • Fridays - The Year 6 Technology Club, who have been learning how to use the 3D printing pens called - 3Doodler

Our recent assemblies have had a focus on the Easter Story as well as the virtues of integrity, truthfulness and honesty. Students were given the opportunity to share their own ideas about these important themes. It has also been lovely to have students perform at assembly in front of the whole Junior School.

It has certainly been a busy term and it is amazing to think we are a quarter of the way through the 2021 school year! We would like to wish all families a safe and relaxing break and trust that everyone can recharge their batteries during the holidays in time for an exciting and busy Term 2.

We look forward to continuing to work closely in partnership with families during the remainder of the year.

The first day of Term 2 is Tuesday April 20.
