Debating Report: DAV Schools Competition Round 2

After a very successful first round, our Huntingtower debating teams returned to Wesley College on the 11th of March for round two.

All grades had set topics:

  • A Grade: We regret the rise of cancel culture
  • B Grade: The government should fund universal free childcare
  • C Grade: That we support mandatory national service
  • D Grade: That animal testing should be banned.

The topics provided some fantastic debates both to watch and to participate in. Once again, we have achieved outstanding results with 8 out of 11 teams winning their debates.

Again, all of our A and C grade teams won their debates.

We additionally had many Huntingtower student being awarded best speaker:

  • Kallista Amery, (Year 12/A Grade)
  • Anjali Sharma (Year 11/B Grade)
  • Lachlan Kelaart (Year 10/C Grade)
  • Nihar Patil (Year 9/D Grade)
  • Daniel Liang (Year 9/D Grade)
  • Chloe Davies (Year 9/D Grade).

Congratulations to everyone who participated! The next round will take place on April 29, with many grades participating in their first secret topics of the year!
