Fond goodbyes to Mr Horton

Last Friday, 26 March, was Mr Horton's last day at ASC. Mr Horton has been Deputy Principal with us the past 9 years - first at Armidale High School and then at Armidale Secondary College following the merger.

Mr Horton received multiple goodbyes throughout the day; first during the Stage 6 Assembly and then with staff at morning tea during recess.

Music was a highlight of each event with Mr Horton playing his banjo and performing a personalised song for students during the assembly. He later entertained staff with a different personalised song at morning tea.

In keeping with the spirit of the day, staff reciprocated with the following tune:

Farewell Mr Horton

Verse 1

There once was a teacher name Roger

Retiring is he, the old codger

His Armidale days have drifted away

His singing we will miss forever

That's a cute little tale

Tell us another one do

Verse 2

There once was a teacher named Horton

Inspiring the next Shakespeare or Lawson

With writing aplenty, his classroom now empty

The whole range of students, he taught 'em

That's a cute little tale

Tell us another one do

Verse 3

There once was a Deputy Stage Five

Who's loud voice did help him to stay alive

No student could hide, his teachers took pride

We wish you a great time of freedom!

That's a cute little tale

That's our brief farewell to you
