Class Projects

Stage 5 project walls

Each Stage 5 Z-line elective class spent the first half of Term 1 creating a Project Wall to help organise their Semester 1 projects as they embark on a Project Based Learning journey.

Year 9 and Year 10 were able to visit each others' classrooms to give some feedback and critique the Project Walls; skills which will be developed and required throughout their own projects.

Congratulations to these classes on their efforts and we look forward to seeing your projects at the end of next term. You have made your learning spaces come to life!

HSC Society and Culture

Earlier this term, Year 12 Society and Culture students participated in workshops with Benjamin Hemmings, a Lecturer in Sociology and PhD candidate at the Australian National University. During these sessions students worked together to develop their HSC Personal Interest Projects (PIPs).

Mr Hemmings, an AHS alumni, presented engaging, high-energy sessions which challenged students to think deeply about their PIP methodology and trouble-shoot potential obstacles. He encouraged students to read widely on their topics and to consider ideas and approaches from a range of academic sources. He also generously agreed to be an ongoing contact and sounding board for student ideas.

Class members all agree these workshops were invaluable preparation for their HSC projects. They thank him most sincerely for taking time from his doctoral studies to share his knowledge and experience.
