Dear Sacred Heart Community

Having checked today's weather forecast for Queensland, I am sure Mark is having a lovely time and not missing our weather here! We hope he is enjoying a very well deserved break. I am so lucky to have such a supportive staff and parent community to help things continue to roll along in his absence. If I forget anything, please don't hesitate to let me know!

This week we have had some exciting celebrations of learning. On Monday the 2/ 3s and 3/4s welcomed the other classes and their parents to their Showcase based on all the work they have done on Farm to Table. Some of the displays were truly spectacular and are highlighted in the photos and feedback in the Classes page of this newsletter.

On Tuesday the 5/6 students headed out for an excursion to the Space Centre at Strathmore High School. The Space Centre was initially set up to provide a centre of excellence in conjunction with NASA to enable students to experience some of the work and science involved in the exploration of space. If you see any of our senior students over the next few days, please ask them about their experiences on their excursion.

With this cold and wet weather, the season of coughs and colds is upon us. If your child has a cough or runny nose it is important that they stay home until they are fully well. Covid is still part of our lives and we need to be mindful of keeping up our hygiene practices of washing hands, coughing or sneezing into elbows and staying home when we have symptoms to minimise the spread of these bugs.

The numbers of jumpers and jackets that have been taken off during playtime runarounds has drastically reduced as the weather turns cooler. A gentle reminder to make sure that your child's jacket and jumper has their name clearly marked in order for them to be returned speedily. If you are missing any, please check out the array we have in the lost property basket!

On Wednesday morning some of our students will be taking part in the interschool Cross Country event. James and Amanda will be taking them. We wish them every success and hope they have a wonderful time representing Sacred Heart School.

Wishing you all a lovely week,

Liz
