Year 8 Victoria Street Site

In what has been a unique and challenging start to 2021, our Year 8 students have demonstrated resilience, optimism and flexibility in transitioning to the Victoria Street Site. New friendships have formed, and student agency has established a strong sense of community. Congratulations to all staff and students who have contributed to making the Victoria St Site a home away from home. And thank you to the year 8 parents and carers for their support during this time.

We asked a student from each Sub-school to share a positive outcome of their time at 200 Victoria Street. This is what they had to say.

The new campus is very nice and flexible in terms of the activities. Although the space is small, it is very comfortable and cozy. As Year the 8’s, we appreciate and take full care of the space that we are provided. Not being on the main campus does not affect the merriment and love that lives and flows in our hearts. From the Year 8’s, thank you to all the Teachers, Principals, and Trinity College for making this happen amid these tough times.

The Victoria Street campus has been a very enjoyable experience for my peers and I because we have been so lucky to experience what it’s like to be at a college and in college classrooms. We’ve had lots of fun being able to learn in such modern and easy to learn facilities. The table tennis tables, card games and board games make it so much more enjoyable to be here at lunch and recess. It is also much more organised, and you know where everything is. Overall, we're very grateful to be here and thankful for the opportunity to learn and thrive here.

At Victoria Street, classes from the whole of year 8 can spend their recesses or lunch breaks borrowing board games and chess boards to entertain their selves during their free time, they also have the option to host mini table- tennis tournaments versing fellow peers to improve their skills. Aside from those activities, there are some more relaxing areas and events. Such as the library on the 5th floor which is open for students to borrow and read books, and the Movie showings on the 6th floor.

I have found being at Victoria Street site, has been a great opportunity for myself and my year 8 peers to build up the organisation skills, time management, good work ethic and habits that we all so profoundly needed to learn. The Victoria street campus is delightful, it's a nice break from the busyness of the story street campus, the site is also extremely sanitary and the teachers/staff provide as much help and information as possible when on site and off. Although going back and forth between the two campuses has been confusing at times, the school staff have very clearly tried their best to help us all feel more comfortable in doing so. In conclusion being at the Victoria street campus has been an amazing experience but I am also excited for when we get to go permanently back to story street.
