NAPLAN

Dear Parents and Carers of Year 3 and 5 students,

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment of literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual NAPLAN tests in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

Our school will be participating in NAPLAN Online between 11 and 21 May 2021.

Excessive preparation for NAPLAN Online is not recommended. Students do not need to be able to touch type to complete NAPLAN Online as the tests are not about keyboard skills (just as the paper test is not about handwriting skills). Students can use thepublic demonstration site to familiarise themselves with the types of questions and tools available in the NAPLAN Online tests.

Please see the attached NAPLAN Online – Information for parents and carers sheet for further information.

If you have any questions about NAPLAN Online, please contact the school office.

Additional resources:

·       Public demonstration site

·       NESA NAPLAN website

·       NAP parent/carer support page

·       Watch a video that explains NAPLAN Online

Compass Updates

Dear Parents and Carers,

Consent for events (excursions, sports etc) are now obtained online via Compass

The Parent Portal in Compass will be updated over the holidays with updates to the following:

  • A new login page
  • A new header across all modules
  • A new look homepage

Please note that none of these changes will impact the functionality that you are used to within Compass, they are updates to the design that we hope will make your use of Compass easier.

To open your compass portal on your mobile phone, you will need to open this in browser. When opening your Compass app, 3 bars in the top left-hand corner will appear. Choose 'open in browser' from the drop-down list and you will then be able to view your dashboard as you would on a computer device.

To receive instant Compass push-notifications on your device, please check that this is enabled in Settings.
