Amazing SCRATCH Games

In the French Binational Program, the Year 7 and 8 students have performed fabulous team work on their computer programming project in their Mathematics class.

The project consisted of programming a maze game in SCRATCH which was presented to the class.

Computer programming is part of the Maths French curriculum and aims to develop skills in algorithms, pattern recognition, abstraction and problem-solving.  This first project combined Maths learning and creativity, experimenting with conditional and loops instructions and multimedia effects using SCRATCH, a user-friendly coding application.

To make the project more fun, the presentations were concluded with students voting for their “preferred” maze game (through www.menti.com) and a prize was awarded to the team with the most votes.

In Year 7, congratulations to Summer Trask, Harry Newman and Jasper Suda for their amazing game “Trouve ton trésor” and the runner-up team, Isabel Braham, Yumika Rivoalan and Mahi Ismail for their beautifully crafted maze game “Le poisson orange”.

In Year 8, well done to the two ex-aequo winning teams; Jayden Kuniawan, Yong Lee and Dilan Baycan for their outstanding game “Aventure aquatique”, as well as Nathan Richard, Tobie Chatellier and Leon Treguer for their very creative game “Veganman”.

You can play the maze game “Aventure aquatique” by downloading it and opening it in SCRATCH.  See if you can complete this multi-level (almost addictive) game without being caught by a shark, touching the balls, or the walls!

Apprendre le Français à AHS!

During the AHS tour and Parent Information night on 22 April, the presentation of the French programs was a great success with tremendous interest from prospective parents.  A big thanks to all the students who volunteered their time for the night and did wonderful work guiding the parents, sharing their experience and answering lots of queries.

The atmosphere was vibrant with all French teachers across general and specialist programs, with a touch of French colours, music and French themed activity games to set the scene.
