Year 10

Since returning to the classroom from online learning, students have completed their unit of work focusing on Theatre Criticism and have commenced work on their Physical Theatre unit.

Students have been viewing examples of physical theatre and participating in practical workshops to develop their understanding of the form. Next term they will work in groups to create their own original physical theatre performances while also being introduced to the work and philosophies of various theatre practitioners.

Year 11

Students have recently completed their unit looking at theatre design with a focus on theatrical costuming. Students have also been given an overview of the production process and the roles and responsibilities of various creatives such as directors, designers, stage managers and technicians to gain a more holistic understanding of the production process.

Year 12

Year 12 have recently performed their Mini Group Performance, inspired by the actor training principles of Jerzy Grotowski and his vision of a ‘Poor Theatre’. Students performed pieces that focused on current social issues with the aim to confront the audience through their immersive staging choices.
