Vocation Education and Training

With learning in VET returning to some normality, we have been able to undertake some great projects and learning activities that were planned during or put on hold during our remote learning.

Hospitality

Year 11 Hospitality students have been busy working on their foundational practical skills in the kitchen. They have been learning to cut, slice, dice correctly while building their skills in the kitchen.

The Year 12 Hospitality class hosted a breakfast service period for staff in week 4 of this term which was a part of their Certificate ll in Hospitality. They planned and produced a menu to offer staff at the school. This was then followed by a pasta based lunch menu in Week 9. Students made four different pasta dishes along with garlic bread and delivered it to staff as a lunch deal.

Metal and Engineering

Students in Year 11 have been acquiring the skills required to fabricate a tool chest. This project requires students to work accurately with a wide range of fabrication tools and equipment to produce a quality project which the students should be able to use for many years to come.

The Year 12 Engineering class took the opportunity to design, plan and build four plant racks for the new green house in the Ag Plot. This dedicated class worked effectively as a team to produce a product that exceeded their customer’s requirements.

Year 12 Construction has just recently completed a soil bay for the school. The students poured a large 9m x 3m slab and continued to build the dividers by welding posts and dropping in sleepers. Students worked in a fantastic manner to build a very successful project. Thanks to Mr Lawrence for showing the class his passion and expertise in concreting. Students will finish the Construction Course with the Brick and Block unit of work next term.
