Sport

Begins to return!

As we look forward to the return of sport in some sort of capacity this term, I thought I would update you on where we are at with various competitions that were scheduled to begin or held during this term.

Our shooting season will commence in some format and some alternative competitions instead of the regular ones will hopefully be organised. Training on Monday nights is still being planned for early commencement. For more information please contact the new Head of Shooting – Ms Matilda McGoon.

The hockey season has had to be revamped because of no adults being allowed to play so Mr MacLean and Miss Waldron should have some information out to all of the hockey community shortly. The soccer competition may still be going ahead as per normal on a Wednesday night depending on team entries from other schools. Mr Guez will confirm in the coming fortnight.

The HBA have announced that they are planning towards a new season beginning during the week of 31st August. Thus, we are in the process of trying to organise our junior and senior teams. We do not plan to change ours from earlier this year unless necessary. So, it is very important if players don’t intend to play to inform their coach or myself by Monday at the latest.

In relation to ICCES Sports, unfortunately all events have been cancelled for 2020. Remaining Glenelg Division events are still to be determined; however, all regular interschool football days are cancelled. There is hope a “friendly” Senior Football match for both boys and girls can be organised later in term against Monivae College. All Schoolgirls’ Netball Competitions have been cancelled. House Sport Afternoons are still planned for the remainder of the year and various House Sports (including hopefully Cross Country) will be run then and during some lunchtimes in Terms 3 and 4.
