Annual General Meeting News

On Tuesday the School held the Annual General Meeting. Dr. Sydney Paul has been re-appointed to the Board for a further three years.  Dr Paul first joined the Board in 2017, and was extremely proud to see excellent results in 2019 due to the hard work by the students and staff at Moama Anglican Grammar.  His vision is to see MAG develop into one of the best regional schools in NSW in education and facilities for both students and teachers in the coming years.

Dr Paul is a Rural GP at Shiloh Medical Practice in Deniliquin, NSW. His wife Priscilla Paul is a teacher at MAG teaching Science, Maths & Religious Education. Their two daughters studied at MAG from Year 7 to 12.  The Paul’s moved as a family to Deniliquin in 2000 after Dr Paul trained at Royal Perth Hospital, Perth, to complete his FRACGP and continues to work at Shiloh and the Deniliquin District Hospital caring for people in remote rural towns in and around Deniliquin.   Dr Paul has a passion for holistic health and education in remote rural communities to be equal and on par with the cities. Since 2000, he has been involved in the education and training of medical students, graduates, and registrars as part of their rural work experience from UNSW, University of Melbourne, Monash & JMP Newcastle Universities. He is also an examiner for medical students and registrars during their training program with Melbourne University, GP Synergy and, Royal College of General Practitioners.  Dr. Paul also serves on the Board of Echuca Regional Health.

Ms Nina O’Brien was appointed to the School Board at the AGM as a new Director.  Nina is passionate about building the capacity of people in regional communities, advocating for educational attainment, building linkages to industry, and creating opportunities particularly for young people. Professionally Nina works for the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal supporting regional communities in Disaster Recovery and Resilience.  Her skills in strategic thinking, governance, communication and community engagement position her well to work alongside other members of the board and executive to shape an exciting future for the school.

Nina has held board positions with Regional Development Australia-Murray, Arts On Tour and the South Australia Youth Arts Board-Grants Advisory Committee and a wide variety of community committees. She has acted as CEO / Executive Officer to three previous organisations in addition to delivering consultancy services to establish the governance, policy framework and strategic planning requirements for a government funded board.  Recently taking on the challenge of studying an MBA, Nina also holds a Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma of Community Sector Management and certificates in Governance and Training and Assessment. Nina has previously worked in not-for-profit management, community services, regional arts development and local government in SA, NSW and Victoria.  Nina, along with her husband Michael, have two children that attend Moama Anglican Grammar and live in Deniliquin NSW.

Congratulations to Dr. Sydney Paul and Ms Nina O’Brien, and thank you both for your commitment to Moama Anglican Grammar.

Our Board Chair, the Rev George Hemmings also thanked Scott Moller who concluded his time as a Director after serving the School for the past 4 years. Rev Hemmings acknowledged Scott’s passion and dedication which he said had been evident in the ways he contributed to every meeting, committee and discussion, and that as such the School has been blessed by his experience and wisdom in many matters.
