Principal's Report

Special Thank You to Our School Community.

As we conclude the term and reflect on the semester’s work, it is an opportunity for the college to celebrate the many successes that our students and community have achieved. As I have mentioned on a number of occasions so far this year this is an extraordinary time for all of us and the challenges have been enormous and unprecedented.

Given these challenges it was critically important that we worked very closely together to ensure that we provided the very best possible support for the ongoing wellbeing and learning of our students and your children. I am thrilled to say that this support that I asked you for was given and many times it even exceeded our expectations. I sincerely thank you on behalf of the College for your support.

Once again, our students’ and community’s performance over the semester proves to me what we can achieve if we exemplify our school values of respect, achievement and responsibility.

These last three weeks we have been busy getting back to some form of normality and it’s great to walk into classrooms and see the students interacting with their teachers. Students have settled in well and have enjoyed seeing each other and learning together again. While things are not completely back to normal, school feels very close to what it was like prior to Covid-19.

Laptop devices and BYOD

The College is pleased to announce changes to the Bring your Own Device (BYOD) Program for the remainder of 2020.

As a result of student feedback regarding using technology during the recent remote learning period, the College has decided to revisit our BYOD Program in order to open it up to all year levels and a greater range of devices.

Below, I have outlined the changes, the minimum requirements, and student obligations to participate in the program.

The device that is listed below is the one that the College continues to be recommended, however, now any device the meets the below requirements will be also be accepted.

In a world of ever-increasing technological use, our school is striving to equip students with the tools, knowledge and skills to take in their careers and futures. Students will be able to engage with their schooling more than ever with use of digital tools such Microsoft Office 365.

The recommended device for our 2020 BYOD Program is:

Microsoft Surface Go 2 64GB – RRP $598

Whilst this is the suggested device – you are not obligated to purchase it.

Below is a set of minimum requirements for other devices that are NOT a Surface Go.

Please note –Chromebooks are not suitable.

Prior to any device being placed on the school network students will also have to agree to sign the KSC BYOD Policy.

Students will be provided with Windows 10 Enterprise, Microsoft Office 2019, over 30 software titles, WIFI, printing funds and links to various technologies used in class.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Gavin Pohlen, the College’s BYOD Coordinator on 9743 9211.

Thank you to cleaning staff

While all of our staff have been working hard during the COVID-19 pandemic, the efforts of our cleaning staff are sometimes overlooked. The cleaning staff have been working tirelessly to ensure that all areas of our school are sanitised and ready for students to return. We truly appreciate their hard work, so thank you for your time and effort to ensure the health and safety of our school.

I hope you all have planned for a restful couple of weeks in the coming break, and that you recharge after a very challenging and unpredictable term

I wish you all a safe and restful break.
