 #GivePlasticTheFlick @ SJC

Did you know, there is one tonne of plastic for every human on earth (Science Advance) and that, according to the World Economic Forum, 1.5 tonnes of plastic enters our oceans every hour. EVERY HOUR.

It's time to GIVE PLASTIC THE FLICK and to 'reduce, reuse, recycle' those plastics we cannot avoid (yet).

Here are two easy habits for the good of our common home:

Turn your soft plastics into recycled outdoor furniture and other useful items: if it is plastic and you can scrunch it, collect in a bigger plastic bag and drop off into the REDCycle bin at Coles or Woolworths or at the Echuca Tip. Students can also drop them into our orange bin @SJC.

Turn your bread tags into household goods items and finance wheelchairs for needy people in South Africa.  Bread tags are an incredibly clever invention and they are just everywhere: bread, wraps, pizza bases, rice crackers... carrots and potatoes have them! Made from a high-performance plastic, your bread tags can be used for many purposes and will, for every 100kg of bread tags, finance a wheelchair for people in need in South Africa. All you need to do is collect your bread tags in an ice cream container or bread bag and bring to school. We will collect and transfer them on for you!
