Practicals in Junior Science

Year 7

Our Year 7 students have been hard at work making Zoo Enclosures for Melbourne Zoo! Students were asked to use their knowledge of ecosystems to create an enriching environment for either a giraffe, penguin, lion or zebra. 

Year 8 Biology 

The unit the Year 8 students have been working on is Body Systems, and for the practical component we dissected hearts! Students were able to see all of the structures and compare these to human hearts. Please note some images are fairly graphic.

Year 9 Biology

The Year 9’s used their knowledge of DNA and genetics to extract DNA from a strawberry. The DNA can be seen in a big clump at the end of the skewer.
