Wellbeing 2020

Mike Tarleton - Assistant Principal (Engagement & Wellbeing)

Welcome back! Hope you all had a recharging school holidays and enjoyed time with family. Our very busy Semester 1 ended with our student organised Silent Disco. It was brilliant to see the smiling, happy faces as students boogied and bopped to the beats provided by external provider Party Higher.

It is important to also put on record our gratitude to all our staff who supported this event. Having such an amazing group of people always ensures the success of our organised events and their time is greatly appreciated.

The students that I've managed to speak with so far have raved about how much fun the disco was. It is always important to hear the positive views from our students and families. If you have any further feedback, please do not hesitate to contact us.

This week, we will be finalising our donations to The Smith Family and The Childhood Cancer Association, chosen by our student leadership team. They did an outstanding job with their attention to detail and managed to have fun too!

Our Cultural Awareness events have been reorganised and on Monday 27th July we had our visit from Rhythm Culture - African Drum, Sing & Dance Workshops.

'I liked banging on the drums to the beat.' (Riley - M3)

'It was so much fun to do the drums. I know the tops are made out of animal skin.' (Maya - M3)

'It was fun to do the dancing.' (Chloe - M3)

'I loved doing the chicken part when we were dancing.' (Jakob - M3)

'It was fun and great to experience African drumming.' (Mayele - M3)

Thank you to our M3 students for their reflective comments about the workshop. There were loads of positive comments, laughter and smiles! There will be additional photos posted in the next newsletter.

'Lockleys North Students... are understanding and considerate of people different from themselves.'

Our Bollywood Cultural Experience will take place during Week 3 - with classes attending workshops during the week Tuesday 4th - Thursday 6th August. You will have received invoices last week so please pay promptly if you haven't already.

'Lockleys North Students appreciate the Arts in various forms.'

As a school we're trying to maintain normality in regards to our students additional educational experiences in what has been a very anything but normal year.

We do understand that it seems we are continually asking for money, so if you are experiencing financial difficulties, please speak with our magnificent Front Office staff to see how we can support you and your family.

Many thanks,

Mike
