Principal News

Today is National Principals Day and we have definitely been spoilt with kind messages from our students, families, community and staff.

Click on the Padlet

to take a look or add a message.

It is sooooo very easy to lead a school when you have such incredible people around you. This has become more abundantly clear during these challenging times.

We miss you all and can feel the love even remotely.

Permit to Work forms

All families who are permitted workers and have approval for their child/ren to be on site, are required to email their Permit to Work forms to the school - cranbourne.south.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au

All future on site applications require you to attach your most up to date Permit to Work. Note: This does NOT apply for families who qualify per vulnerability.   Those who qualify under disability may be required to provide a Permit to Work.

Permission to be human

It is so important that you give yourself permission to be human during these challenging times.  I guarantee you that there is not one spectacular parent who is winning parent of the year awards at present all the time (and if they are, I want proof :) ). Please be kind to yourself.  Know when enough is enough. Turn the computer off.  Enjoy some down time. Phone a friend.  Smile.  Laugh.  And know tomorrow is a new day.

Curriculum Day reminder

We have planned (and rescheduled twice) a Curriculum Day to develop staff skills and knowledge in teaching and learning in mathematics.

This date has been advertised through Compass and the iNewsletter for 3 months.

The Curriculum Day date is 21st August.  There will be NO remote learning on this day and NO on site student attendance.

Crossing Victoria

Due to Stage 4 restrictions, effective Thursday 6 August 2020, for 6 weeks, there will be no School Crossing supervisors.

Any on site student attendance walking/riding will not be provided with crossing support.  The school highly prefers that the Kiss and Go zone is used for all drop off and pick up procedures.

Attendance and engagement are something we take seriously at CSPS.

Whilst Remote Learning at home please ensure that your child/ren login to Seesaw to complete the roll procedure for their class and at least one of the set activities by 12 noon each day. The Department of Education legally requires staff to upload their roll daily to record attendance.  At CSPS staff will be marking the attendance roll on Compass daily at 12pm. If your child/ren has not logged on and completed a minimum of one activity they will be marked as not present and a SMS text will be sent.

If you or your child/ren are having technical difficulties logging please contact your classroom teacher. If your child is completing work at home in a different manner than set in Seesaw, please inform your classroom teacher daily by 12pm so they can mark the attendance roll accordingly.

If you require additional support contact your classroom teacher or Karen Halket on karenh@cranbournesouth.vic.edu.au

The Annual General Meeting is generally scheduled for Term 2 where the Annual Report and President Report is tabled.  Due to COVID, this has proven challenging.  You can access these reports on the school website.  Any questions, please contact the School Council President, Jodi Price, via the school email.

Child Safe: Safeguarding children during COVID-19

There are many resources available to assist children, young people and their families make sense of what they are seeing, hearing and feeling during this challenging time of coronavirus (COVID-19)

The ACU Australian Catholic University (ACU) is a great website with resources to help keep children safe during these challenging times.

Please click on the link for further information.

Principle 1: Keep Me Safe during COVID-19

Children and young people's safety and wellbeing are of primary importance. Being safe and feeling safe mean different things for children and young people.

Children and young people want to know that they are safe. They also want to know what is happening around them and what adults and others are doing to keep them safe.

Children and young people have said that even though they may have been in situations in which adults felt that they were safe, their bodies were telling them differently. Children and young people might be experiencing:

  • anxiety, worry, upset or anger
  • difficulty getting to sleep headaches and sore tummies
  • a stronger need for connection and want more reassurance and cuddles.
  • Things may have happened that made them think or feel that they were unsafe, including when certain adults were around them.
    -  Try listening to children as they talk about the feelings that are important to them.
    -  Take opportunities to explore these feelings with them.
    -   If you find that they are not feeling safe, act on this and work with the child or young person to ensure their ongoing safety
