~ Positive Education for Life ~

Every Child Known, Encouraged, Challenged and Supported

Dear Parents and Friends of St Brendan’s,

Welcome to Week Seven of Learning Remotely. I’m sure that  it’s challenging for both your children and for you to know which week we are currently in!

I want to offer you all the encouragement to keep going, to stay the course! The efforts we are all making,  through this Stage Four Lockdown, are beginning to bring more positive results. I try to keep myself going by imagining and planning for the following things:

  • Beautiful Spring weather
  • The return of our children in Term Four
  • Being able to meet with you all and celebrate the amazing things you have done for your children during this time
  • Being able to see our staff relax and celebrate all they’ve achieved

I also keep myself going by taking the time to be still, to be mindful, to walk in nature and probably most importantly, to pray. I ask God to bless and care for:

  • Me so that I can do the things I need to do for both my family and my school community
  • The people I know and love so that they are in the best space possible to manage during this time
  • Our school community so that they know that they are not alone even when it may feel as though they are
  • Our beautiful city of Melbourne and the wider state of VIctoria that we may soon be able to enjoy all the they wonderful things they have to offer
  • Our country that we all strive to stay safe for both ourselves and for others so that we are able to return to a more comfortable and familiar way of living
  • The world that we become a kinder, more generous planet that strives collectively to support and honour all people

Once again, I’d like to remind you to reach out to me if you need to chat or if you require some specific assistance. Please phone the school on 5977 7277 or email scarr@sbsomerville.catholic.edu.au

Connections with our Parish Through Father Michael

I have been delighted to be able to share Father Michael’s talks with the children over the last couple of weeks. I’d like to suggest that you take time to share his message with your children. This week, Father Michael speaks to the children and to us, about finding time for individual prayer and stillness.

Prep Enrolments Close 28th August

Enrolments for Prep 2021 officially close on Friday 28th August. If you are a current parent  and you have a child who will start Prep next year, we require your paperwork as a matter of urgency.

If you have a friend or acquaintance who is looking for a school for their child, please ask them to call the school office and I will be happy to speak with them. Thank you for your support and assistance in this matter.

Year 5/6 Camp Cancelled

The current restrictions that have been placed on Melburnians regarding movement around the state has caused us to have to cancel the Year 5/6 camp. This is yet another disappointment for the children. Unfortunately, we have had absolutely no choice. Camp fees will be credited to your account, if you have paid your school fees in full we will contact you to organise a refund. Hopefully, we can do something fun with the children in Term 4.

Have a great week.

Warmest regards,

Sue

Birthday Wishes!

Dear St Brendan’s Community

Today is Sue Carr’s birthday. On behalf of all of our staff and students I would like to wish Sue the happiest of birthdays.

I would like to acknowledge her leadership and dedication as principal of our school, especially during this year.  We hope you have a great day and get spoilt by Mr Carr!

We are all hoping and praying for a time when we can gather together and celebrate our ‘reunion’ as a whole school community.

Hopefully we will have a chance to be together and celebrate all birthdays later in the year. Our school turned 25 this year too so we have lots to catch up on when we are safe to do so.
