5J Inquiry, Literacy and Art Work for Term 3

In 5J we have been working on our understanding of the concept of ‘Perspective’. Through our work in Inquiry, Literacy and Art we have been investigating what Perspective means in each of these areas.

In the Inquiry we are looking at the perspective of both Indigenous Australians and Europeans in relation to the British settlement of Australia.

For Literacy we read the picture story book ‘The Rabbits’ by John Marsden. Students interpreted the images and what they represented. They also looked at life before the “rabbits” came and the impact they had on the “numbats”.

In our Visual Arts Program students created artworks using lines and colour to show perspective.

Please see below the amazing work 5J created..."

How much the land has changed since the British invaded/settled in this land.

I liked how John Marsden used the rabbits to represent the British and the numbats to represent the indigenous people of the land.

The face art is a different perspective of how people view things especially in their imagination. We needed to draw half a side of a face and draw shapes in the face which we then coloured in multiple colours. We ruled lines horizontally and vertically to create an illusion around the face.

Luka

The face art was really inspiring in particular the way the lines seemed to move and make the face stand out to form a great effect.
