Years 5/6 PBL Learning
Various members of the Years 5 to 8 community have been involved in Meals on Wheels. Each week, three to four students pick up the foods ordered, sort the food and then drop it off. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve our community and communicate with the recipients of the food.
We have studied a number of different things over the last fortnight in TA. We have ensured that we have set relevant academic SMART goals. We have reviewed and studied cyber safety to ensure we are adequately equipped when on line. Currently we are looking at our character strengths and self confidence to further assist our interactions with others and how we view ourselves on a daily basis.
A number of interesting projects have been developed in PBL. The Years 5/6 students studied countries from around the world and researched one of interest. They presented these to the Year 7 students in a way that communicated all of their knowledge and was also visually appealing.
The Year 8 students have also just completed their websites around the social and emotional health of students at St Augustines. The Year 8 students collected data and undertook research to include in their final presentation.
The Year 7 students are currently at Harrietville. This camp enables them to build on their social groups and improve their teamwork and collaborative skills. The students are undertaking activities such as high ropes, mountain biking, orienteering, bushwalking and much more.
