Team Leader’s Message

I find myself asking, “Where has the year gone?”  However, when reflecting upon what the Year 11/12 students and staff have achieved throughout the year, it’s been a busy year!  With all students undertaking the VCAL curriculum, it has seen students develop literacy and numeracy skills and personal development skills when studying their integrated topics of Connecting with our Community or Post-School Preparation.  Students have each participated in two or three group work placements, and many have been out on independent work placements.  Students have been attending 10 different VET programs on a weekly basis.  We've had a number of guest speakers in this term, including the Victoria Police, Rosemary, the Reach Foundation and past student, Bayley Kennedy.

But the year is not over yet!  Dance classes are underway for the Year 11 Presentation Ball, being held at the MCG in November, and the group will visit there early Term 4 to familiarise themselves with the venue.   The Year 12s are looking forward to their Sydney Educational Tour next month and will have a formal graduation ceremony in the first week of December.

The majority Year 12 students have been working closely with Rhiannon Campbell, our Post-School Transition Officer, and have made decisions about, and applied for, programs for 2020.  Placements include Tafe, transition to employment programs, employment services and day programs.  Many students will be undertaking transition days next term to familiarise themselves with their new service.

Many of the programs we access in the community may begin to wind down in November but some alternate programs will be run at school.

As part of our Extreme Teams program the Year 11/12 students will be running some Christmas-themed market stalls for the Christmas Concert this year so we hope that many of you will be able to attend.

Time flies when you’re having fun!

PLEASE NOTE:  Information Session

An information session for the current Year 10 students will be held in November.  This is the same presentation that was held at the end of 2018 to explain the VCAL program so current Year 11 families (Year 12 in 2020) do not need to attend.  However, there will be an information session held in February to just for Year 12 families.
