Welcome Peter Houlahan

Hopefully many in our community have had an opportunity to met Peter Houlahan, as the new Executive Officer of KEM – either virtually or personally. Peter has already visited most of the KEM schools and met key personnel. There have also been several KEM Board committee meetings and the first board meeting was held last week. It has been delightful to see Peter’s enthusiasm and interest in each school and while Peter will be the first to admit he is on a steep learning curve, he seems to have settled in with ease. If you are in the vicinity please feel free to drop in and introduce yourself.

In case you missed the announcement of Peter’s appointment last year, we summarise it below:

It is with great pleasure that we share with you that Mr Peter Houlahan has been appointment the Executive Officer of Kildare Education Ministries. Peter comes to us from Marist-Sion College in Warragul where he served as Principal since 2007. In his almost 40 years involvement in Catholic Education, Peter’s approach has been to “help young people develop in mind and heart” through the integration of faith, life and learning in an inclusive and welcoming community. People have reflected that this has been Peter’s legacy throughout his career.

As a highly successful Principal of almost fifteen years, Peter has worked in Catholic Education since 1983 and has proven himself to be a life-long learner by deepening his faith leadership and broadening his qualifications. Peter has been generous with his time and has been actively involved in several regional, state and international committees providing him with high level skills in strategic leadership and a solid understanding of sound governance practices. Peter is a visionary leader, highly committed to social justice, inclusion and welcome.   He brings current educational expertise with a mission focused imperative to the Board. From many years of walking in the shoes of a principal, he will be able to effectively support our KEM principals.

On behalf of the Kildare Education Ministries and the Trustees of Kildare Ministries, we once again congratulate Peter on his appointment and look forward to a long and happy association with Kildare Ministries.
