Formal Photos
Today Leading Image took our formal and family photos. Due to the high rate of absenteeism, we only had individual photos taken. We will be re-scheduling a day in Term 2 when our class photos and individual photos (for those students who were absent today) will be taken.
Thank You
Thank you for your patience as we navigate our way through our regulations around Covid. I would also like to thank you for monitoring your son’s wellbeing and not sending him if he is unwell, notifying us if they have COVID, and your understanding if we need to send your son home because he is unwell.
Parent Information Evening
Thank you to everyone who ‘tuned’ in for their son’s respective Parent Information evening online. I would also like to thank our teaching staff for their collective efforts and professionalism of their presentations. Prep had had a technical hitch and will be scheduled for next Wednesday evening. Parents will be notified of the details in an EdSmart broadcast.
Robotics Club
This week Miss Daun has started play time robotics clubs. The boys have had a wonderful time programming Edison robots, which we have been able to borrow from Catholic Education Tasmania's STEM Lending Library.

Learning Plan Meetings
During the next month your class teacher, or one of our office staff will be in touch with you, if your son is on a Learning Plan, or has a diagnosis. This will be to coordinate a meeting time to discuss your son’s needs and set goals for him for this year. These meetings will be conducted with your class teacher and Mrs Messer, as the Learning Enhancement Coordinator and a parent or parents. Please be patient, we will be in touch, as we do have a significant number of meetings to coordinate by the end of term.
Kindergarten News
Mrs Sandra Mazengarb
The new students in Kindergarten are so excited to be at school. They are making new friends and exploring new ideas. We are wondering how we can look at things differently. We are investigating using mirrors, binoculars, kaleidoscopes, magnifying glasses, light and colour to change the way we see things.
Last week we took mirrors and magnifying glasses to explore the bush at bush kinder. Archer soon discovered the mirrors could reflect light and he could direct the light around the bush.
On Monday we went on our first excursion to MONA. This excursion was planned to support the boy’s understandings of reflection and multiple images. We explored the “House of Mirrors” at MONA.
“We look at the mirrors and the mirrors look back”, said Fletcher.
“I thought the mirror was a path and I bumped into it!” said Archie.
“I liked sitting on the ground and seeing lots of us.” (In the mirror room) said Teddy
We are looking closely at our faces and flowers. We are developing our fine motors skills through drawing and using watercolours.

Sport
This week we had three different sports commence. JSSATIS 3&4 cricket, JSSATIS 5&6 tennis and flippaball. Thank you to all the students who have signed up to play. I would like to thank Mrs McCullagh who has spent many hours preparing our teams for their respective competitions. Thank you also to the staff and parents who have volunteered to help coach or manage a team, we could do it without you! Good luck to all the boys.

House Swimming Carnival
In line with the College’s COVID-19 policy which seeks to minimise interaction between students of different grade levels and members of our broader community, we have postponed our annual House Swimming Carnival.
Once school COVID -19 policies have been amended by the TCEO, we will schedule a House Swimming Fun Day which will incorporate many of the events usually held at the House Swimming Carnival. Details of the event will be circulated once confirmed.
The College also conducts a Swimming Programme for all students in Term 4.
Representative Swimming Trials
The College participates in two inter-school carnivals in Term 1 - JSSATIS and STCPSSA. To enable a team to be selected for these carnivals we will be conducting trials tomorrow, Friday February 25.
Please note that in line with COVID-19 policy, parents and other family members will not be permitted to attend the selection trials. Students who do not nominate for the trials will have class at school as normal.
Students will be transported to and from the trials by our school bus and Walker’s Coaches accompanied by several staff, leaving school at 8:50am. They will be returning at approximately 12pm. Students will then return to normal classes for the remainder of the day.
