Art

Thank you to everyone who has brought art smocks into school. Art smocks are important to protect your children’s school uniforms from getting messy! If you’re not sure what to purchase, feel free to contact me via email.

The last 2 weeks have been very busy in the art room. All of the prep classes have now been introduced to art sessions and have done really well. We have explored portraiture – drawing what we want to be when we grow up as well as beginning to learn about collage by cutting and pasting an artwork of our families.

Grade 1 and 2 have created work inspired by the picture storybook ‘Hark it’s me Ruby Lee’ by Lisa Shanahan. Students looked at the illustrations by artist Binny to create their own exaggerated and simplified faces. They were so focused when constructing the body which have become free-standing forms. I am so impressed by students’ hard work, creativity and imagination!
