Grade 1/2

INQUIRY: BODY SAFETY

For the remainder of the term, we will be covering Body Safety Education as part of our Respectful Relationships program and School Wide Positive Behaviour.

We believe from a young age, children need to learn that their body is their body and no one has the right to touch it inappropriately.

During our Body Safety unit, children will cover the following key points:

  • discuss emotions and feelings such as happy, sad, angry, worried and strategies to help with these etc.
  • talk about what it is like to feel ‘safe’ and ‘unsafe’
  • that they have rights in relation to their body
  • that some parts of their body are private
  • discuss their Early Warning Signs
  • discuss ‘body boundaries’, consent and respect
  • identify trusted adults that they could go to if they are feeling unsafe (a Safety Network)

Please contact us if you have any questions around this unit.
