Wellbeing/Be You

Promoting a positive connection to school

Our focus this term has been providing opportunities for our students to reconnect socially and interact in a positive and respectful way. We believe that it is really important that our students feel a strong sense of connection to their peers, teachers and community in order to thrive academically.

Kindness Culture

Friday 18 March was National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence (NDA).

Tomorrow (25 March), we will be acknowledging “Kindness Culture” Day. We will be encouraging students to wear “a touch of orange” and if they would like to, bring a gold coin donation towards The Alannah and Madeline Foundation who cares for children who have experienced or witnessed serious violence, and runs evidence-based programs that prevent violence and advocate for children’s safety and wellbeing.

Respectful Relationships

We are beginning to develop our whole school community understanding of Respectful Relationships. This deepened understanding of ‘respect’ will support us in developing a shared understanding across our BNPS community about what is means to have respectful relationships with others. Our students have created definitions and participated in a survey which has provided helpful feedback and direction to the Respectful Relationships Team.

In Term 2, we will be focusing on sharing further information to our parent community, providing a parent survey to gain feedback and teachers delivering some of the lessons to promote positive connections and respectful communication.

We encourage you to watch this short video which explains what Respectful Relationships Education is - https://video.link/w/FTpad.

Respectful Relationships Education is the holistic approach to school-based, primary prevention of gender-based violence.

We will provide more information about the Respectful Relationships curriculum as we progress with its implementation.
