NSW PSSA Tennis- by Lucas Sardinha

During Week 2, I travelled to Inverell to represent Polding and participate in the PSSA Tennis Championships. There were 13 teams of ten, split into two Pools, who competed throughout the week. Our team (Polding) came 2nd in Pool B and had to compete against MacKillop who was the winner of Pool A. We lost to Mackillop who went on to win the Championship for 2019. Polding competed against Sydney West to play off for 3rd and 4th place which we lost. Fourth place was the best result that Polding has achieved in many years. None of my teammates made the PSSA team but we all had a lot of fun and went home with new friends.

Diocesan Cross Country

Forty six children travelled to Barraba on Friday 17 May to represent St Xavier’s at the annual Diocesan Cross Country. About 75 children were in each age group. St Xavier’s children demonstrated excellent behaviour, sportsmanship and encouragement for our runners in each age group. The 11 years boys and the 12 years girls won their respective team trophy. Four children; Sienna Edmunds & Amber Lindfield(8/9 yrs girls) Angus Hobson (11 yrs boys) and Mikayla Straney (12 yrs girls) will represent The Armidale Diocese at the Polding Cross Country to be held at Sydney Motorsport Park in June.

This Friday (24 May) we are sending 126 Primary students to Inverell for the Diocesan Gala Day. They will compete in netball, soccer and league.

ATHLETICS  - NSW PSSA State Athletics Team Selection Trials - 8 August @ Sydney Olympic Park  - Entries Close 26 June 2019

In 2019 the School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships will be held in the Northern Territory.

Due to extreme heat conditions in Darwin during November/December when the National Track and Field Championships are traditionally held, this year’s SSA event will be held from the 18-23 September 2019.

In order to select a NSW representative track & field team for this event, the NSWPSSA will be holding a special selection trial.

Participation at these trials will be via a formal application to NSWPSSA and athletes MUST compete at this event to achieve selection in the 2019 NSW representative team.

An entry fee will be applicable to successful athletes.

For more information and the entry form - CLICK HERE >>

NB: This trial is not for participation at the NSWPSSA State Athletics Championships held on 6 and 7 November 2019.  Students will need to qualify for these championships through their school and association representative pathway.
