HELLENIC MEMORIAL SCHOOL COMPETITION

2019 AUSTRALIAN HELLENIC MEMORIAL SCHOOL COMPETITION
The Year 8 Greek students were fortunate enough to participate in the 2019 Australian Hellenic Memorial Competition. The competition focused on the events and history in Greece during World War One and Two, and why the beautiful Australian Hellenic Memorial was built. Students were asked to submit their own poems and essays which related to the Greek campaign and the Anzacs in Greece.
The event was held for the 10th consecutive year, and was open to all schools where Greek language is taught to students. Currently there are 140 schools in Victoria including our very own. There were 315 entries and this was the first year that our year 8 Greek students participated.
I am pleased to announce that Nikitas Papanagiotou came 3rd and Zoe Radimisis received an Encouragement Award. Anastasia Rigopoulos, Anastasia Zorzi, Dina Vouvakis, Ellie Sahinis, Eleni Panitsa, Jacqueline Rantino, Mia Hatzis and Dimitrios Dimanopoulos all received a Certificate of Participation and a badge.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all students and thank Nikitas, Zoe, Anastasia R and Jacqueline for attending the presentation at the Australian Hellenic Memorial in the Domain Gardens, on Sunday, 20th October.
Finally, I am extremely proud and honoured to have such enthusiastic, dedicated students representing Lalor Secondary College who are always willing to have a go. Well done!!
Thank you
Ms Ricco
