Principal's Report

Principal Report 

The school had the pleasure of welcoming our 2020 year 7 students on Tuesday the 29th of October for our annual testing day. The group started their first day extremely well and were welcomed into the college by both staff and students. This day allows the school to gather some information on our future students and make plans for all of our incoming students. We look forward to seeing the class of 2025 at the Year 7 Parent Information Evening to be held on Thursday the 14th of November. This was also a very exciting day for the college as the new building was opened and used for the first time. The new building will be known as the Lalor Secondary College Innovation Centre and will be officially opened at the beginning of 2020. The 2020 Year 7 Orientation program continues into December with our Pre-Orientation program running on Thursday the 5th of December and Orientation Day on Tuesday the 10th of December. We look forward to once again seeing our new families in and around the college.

The VCAA exams continue to run this week and I personally wish all of our Year 12 students continued luck throughout the next couple of weeks. The Year 11 students commence exams next week and the Year 10 and 9 students the week after. This is an important time for our students and getting use the rigours of exams. The more practice our students get the better prepared they will be when entering the final year of their schooling. I ask all families to have a conversation with your child about their exams and ways in which you can best support them through this period.

As we get closer to the end of the year the pressure for both students and staff increases with due dates for assignments and report writing all taking place in a short period of time. I ask all members of our school community to remain patient with each other during this stressful time and collaborate as best we can to get through this challenging couple of weeks.
